This is my first attempt at app development….its called Cha-Ching! And this is what it’s all about…………

Do you want to know how much cash you have made in the last hour, minute or even seconds?

Then Cha-Ching is for you!

Simply enter your Hourly Rate, push start and watch your cash grow!

You can even deduct tax to see how much the tax man is taking!

So if you are an independent contractor or get paid by the hour, then Cha-Ching is for you!

Cha-Ching!….. The app that shows you the money!

•New Features in Version 4.1

-Bug Fixes

•New Features in Version 4.0

You asked for it, you got it!

Cha-Ching! will now calculate overtime rates!

This is just one of the great new features of the app, which has been completely over-hauled.

What’s New in Cha-Ching! 4.0?

-New icon and logo

-Ability to add both time and a half (T1.5) and double time (T2) rates to be calculated. Cha-Ching! will let you you know when you are in overtime by the familiar Cha-Ching sound and by a text colour change. Green for T1.5 and blue for T2. You can select when these rates ‘kick in’.

-Add a lunch break , which can be deducted from your total day’s earnings.

-Select a start time. Cha-Ching! will calculate the hours between your selected start time and the current time. This means you can close the app, and when you reopen it, you will really see how much cash you’ve made since the start time!!

-Hide Rates. If you want to show off the app without giving away your hourly rate, then you can simply select to have the rate(s) hidden. (Please note your calculations are not hidden however, so a math expert may be able to work out you rate!)

Multi-tasking is not required for Cha-Ching! to remember its state after exiting the app. When you re-open the app, Cha-Ching will calculate the difference between the set start time and the current time. This means it will work on all iphone/ipod touch models!

3.1.2 Minimum firmware required.

One last note, if your device goes into ‘sleep’ mode while Cha-Ching! is running, you will need to exit and reopen the app to get accurate calculations.

Here is what people are saying about Cha-Ching!

TuneIn Radio-Just Awesome!

September 11, 2010

Just as the post heading says, TuneIn Radio is just awesome!

The app is designed to stream radio stations and podcasts from all over the world, but what makes it stand out for me is the ability to live pause , rewind (Yes rewind!!) and record the streams for future listening pleasure!

Think of those times that you have been listening to the radio and thought , what did he or she say, too late you missed it, but not now! You can rewind in 10 sec increments and catch up on what you missed.

The user interface is nicely designed and easy to use.

The app works over wifi and 3G which is cool.

So that’s why TuneIn Radio is my App of the year…….so far!!

iOS 4.1 to be released 8th September

September 6, 2010

At the Apple Keynote on 1st September,2010, Steve Jobs announced that the iOS4.1 software update will be available soon, and that is now rumored to be the 8th September.

This is good news for iphone 3g users that have had issues with performance since upgrading to 4.0

Here is a quick round up of new features:

High Dynamic Range (HDR) photos: Steve Jobs explained that HDR photos are created using 3 photos taken in rapid succession: one normal, one under-exposed, and one over-exposed. The photos are then combined using some pretty sophisticated algorithms to create an enhanced composite photo

Game Center: Apple’s social gaming network

Ability to rent TV shows from your iPhone for $0.99 (not available here in New Zealand…..surprise,surprise!)

HD video upload from your iPhone 4 over Wi-Fi

Fix for proximity sensor, Bluetooth and iPhone 3G iOS 4 performance problems!

According to the follow post from, users can unlock all baseband versions of the iphone 3gs and iphone 4. The Ultrasn0w unlock is availble via Cydia, so you will need to jailbreak first. Click here for more on JailBreakMe, and read more from the iphonehacks post…………

iPhone Dev Team has released Ultrasn0w 1.0-1 to unlock iPhone 4 just as we had expected.

This makes it the world’s first free softwaresolution to unlock iPhone 4. iPhone Dev team had already released Ultrasn0w 0.93 to unlock all basebands since iPhone OS 3.0including baseband 05.13.04 that comes bundled with iOS 4 for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G users.

iPhone Dev Team announced the release of Ultrasn0w for iPhone 4 on their blog:

Thanks everyone for the tip!

Update 1:

Adding in Cydia and installing their package should fix MMS issues for T-Mobile users.

Update 2:

If doesn’t work for you then you can try out this alternative link:

Update 3:

Comex has reproduced the MMS/FaceTime issue that users have been reporting, which should help in fixing the issue.

Update 4:

If you want to unlock your iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G then you need to first jailbreak your iPhone on iOS 4 or iOS 4.0.1 using JailbreakMe and then install Ultrasn0w 0.93 to unlock your iPhone.

Update 5:

It looks like Comex has found the solution for the MMS/FaceTime issue.

Update 6:

Comex has fixed the MMS and FaceTime issue. So if you are using JailbreakMe for the first time then you should not face the MMS and FaceTime issues as Comex has included the fix in JailbreakMe. If you hit the issue after installing JailbreakMe then open Cydia and upgrade when prompted. If FaceTime is missing then you might have to enable it via the Settings app (Settings -> Phone -> Enable FaceTime toggle)

Update 7:

Comex has released a new version of JailbreakMe that should fix the issue jailbreaking iPad on iOS 3.2.1.

Update 8:

If ‘slide to jailbreak’ doesn’t work on then reboot your iDevice and try the alternative link: It seems to work for some of our readers.

Did Apple know about the iphone 4 Antenna problem before its release?

July 16, 2010

The plot thickens……

According to the following taken from the very cool iphone, it appears that Apple and more importantly, Steve Jobs, may have known that there were problems with the iphone 4 antenna before it shipped. We have seen problems like this before with products being shipped before they are ready…Windows Vista definitely comes to mind!! Read on…………………

Apple has called a special iPhone 4 press conference tomorrow to most probably talk about widely publicized iPhone 4’s reception problem that has snowballed into a PR nightmare.

Bloomberg is reporting that according to their source, Apple’s Ruben Caballero, a senior engineer and antenna expert had raised his concerns about iPhone 4’s new antenna system to Steve Jobs.

Bloomberg reports:

Last year, Ruben Caballero, a senior engineer and antenna expert, informed Apple’s management the device’s design may cause reception problems, said the person, who is not authorized to speak on Apple’s behalf and asked not to be identified.

According to Wall Street Journal:

Mr. Jobs liked the design so much that Apple went ahead with its development.

According to Bloomberg, one of Apple’s carrier partners had also raised concerns about iPhone 4’s new antenna system before it was launched:

A carrier partner also raised concerns about the antenna before the device’s June 24 release, according to another person familiar with the situation.

Apple spokesperson told the Wall Street Journal:

“We challenge Bloomberg BusinessWeek to produce anything beyond rumors to back this up. It’s simply not true.”

Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple is not planning to recall iPhone 4 at tomorrow’s press conference:

Apple’s iPhone 4 has been dogged by reports of antenna-reception problems since its launch last month. The company has called a news conference to discuss the issue Friday. Apple doesn’t plan to recall the phone, a person familar with the matter said.

So that means Apple could either simply explain the problem, blame everything on AT&T poor network, give away free bumper cases to iPhone 4 users or give users who are facing the problem an option to replace their iPhone 4’s with a new version that comes with the design fix.

Interestingly, John Gruber of Daring Fireball who has a good track record with Apple predictions believes its something else:

but I now have a hunch it’s going to be more — maybe a lot more — than just a defense of the iPhone 4 antenna. Sounds crazy, I know, but I think something big, or at least biggish, is going down tomorrow.

Maybe this iPhone 4 reception saga will finally force Apple to end AT&T’s iPhone exclusivity in the US. The reason: I still can’t get over the fact that Apple were using the wrong formula to calculate how many bars of signal strength to display is totally wrong since the original iPhone. I’m sure Apple would have consulted AT&T when they started using it in the original iPhone. It’s also not clear why AT&T recently updated their recommended formula for calculating how many bars to display for a given signal strength (based on Apple’s open letter to iPhone 4 users). Something doesn’t seem right.

We’ll find out what Apple has to say about the situation in less than 24 hours and what it plans to do to address it.
